Tampa Prep Terrapins Athletics

Coach Smith brings an exceptional background as both a former standout player and a highly decorated head coach. In college, he played on teams consistently ranked in the top 20 NCAA Division I programs and captained the University of Maryland in 1995, leading the Terrapins to the NCAA "Sweet Sixteen." Following college, he played four seasons of professional soccer in the National Professional Soccer League and the Continental Indoor Soccer League.

Over his tenure with the program, Coach Smith has captured five state championships (2010, 2012, 2013, 2022, and 2024). Known for his strong connections at the next level, he has successfully developed multiple players for collegiate competition. His leadership has earned him widespread recognition, including being named Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year (2010, 2013, 2024), Tampa Tribune Coach of the Year (2010, 2012, 2013), Tampa Bay Times Coach of the Year (2012, 2013), and NSCAA Florida Coach of the Year (2013).
