ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Region 3-1A Meet was held on Saturday, May 3, at Northside Christian, where four Tampa Prep athletes earned spots in the FHSAA Class 1A Track & Field State Championships, scheduled for Friday, May 10, at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Cai Culpepper claimed Regional Titles in both the 200m and 400m, automatically qualifying for the State Finals. She set new records in both events, running 53.15 in the 400m and 23.75 in the 200m, breaking her own school records. In addition to her school records, Cai set new meet and venue records in both events:
- 200m Meet Record: Previously held by Makyla Travis (Evangelical Christian) with a time of 23.82 (2024)
- 200m Venue Record: Previously held by Jamesha Moorer (Lakewood) with a time of 24.84 (2016)
- 400m Meet Record: Previously held by Gaby Gayles (Holy Trinity) with a time of 55.29 (2013)
- 400m Venue Record: Previously held by Cai herself with a time of 54.06 (2025)
Culpepper's marks rank among the top 5 in Class 1A.
Ailani Forde captured the Regional Title in the triple jump with a mark of 11.40m (37' 5"), automatically qualifying for the State Finals. She also earned an at-large bid in the long jump after placing 5th and currently ranks among the top 5 in Class 1A for triple jump.
Jacob Burke earned an at-large bid in the 400m, running a school-record time of 50.00 in his 3rd-place finish, breaking the previous record of 50.63 set by Qaseem Wajd in 2014.
Alivia Frazier earned an at-large bid in the 400m after placing 5th with a time of 1:01.10, securing her spot at the State Finals.
The Track & Field program has set 11 school records so far this season. The girls team finished 6th overall at the Region 3-1A Meet,
