Terrapins Medal at States, Culpepper Sets Records in Double Gold Effort

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tampa Prep had a strong showing at the FHSAA Class 1A Track & Field State Championships on Saturday, May 10, at the University of North Florida, highlighted by a pair of podium finishes and multiple personal and school records.

Freshman Cai Culpepper made history by winning two state titles, capturing gold in both the 200m and 400m. She broke her own school records in both events, clocking 23.69 in the 200m and 52.92 in the 400m to finish her freshman campaign as a State Champion x2. Her time in the 400m also set a new FHSAA Class 1A state record. Culpepper's wins mark the first individual state titles for Tampa Prep in track and field since 2017, when Delany Barnard won the high jump with a mark of 1.60m.

Senior Ailani Forde closed out her high school career with an impressive performance in the jumps. She placed 3rd in the triple jump with a mark of 11.31m (37' 1¼") and 10th in the long jump at 5.11m (16' 9¼"). Forde graduates holding the school records in both events, with marks of 17' 9½" in the long jump and 38' 6" in the triple jump.

Junior Jacob Burke also earned a state medal, placing 8th in the 400m with a time of 50.29.

Sophomore Alivia Frazier rounded out the Terrapin performances, finishing 11th in the 400m and recording a personal best of 1:00.62.

In total, Tampa Prep athletes broke 13 school records over the course of the 2024-25 season.
