TAMPA, Fla. - The Terrapins baseball team opened up their home schedule at Shimberg Field on Tuesday by earning a 8-5 win against Tampa Catholic.
Tampa Prep opened up scoring in the first inning, when
Noah Sheffield singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The Terrapins notched five runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught was led by
Will Jennewein,
Will Sotiropoulos,
Ty Jones, and
Jaden Holder, all driving in runs in the inning.
Sotiropoulos earned the victory on the pitcher's mound. He went five innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out six. Holder, Jones, and
Grant Varner all put in work in relief out of the bullpen. Jones recorded the last two outs to earn the save.
Holder led Tampa Prep with two hits in four at bats. The Terrapins were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Varner made the most plays with eight. Tampa Catholic tallied six hits in the game.
