Saturday's win continued Tampa Prep's undefeated season and improved its record to 20-0. Not only are the Terrapins ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, MaxPreps.com has them in the top spot in the state and the country. Tampa Prep has outscored its four opponents 18-2, with the only goals surrendered coming in a 4-2 regional quarterfinal win over Lakeland Christian.
Tampa Prep's sixth and more recent state championship came in 2013, winning the Class 1A title over Miami Hillel. All six of the Terps' titles came during a nine-year run from 2005 to 2013. Coach Smith led Tampa Prep to victory in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
The Terrapins will take on Ransom Everglades in the 3A State Championship on Thursday, February 24. The game is scheduled to start at 1:05 pm from Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand, FL. Ransom Everglades advanced Saturday after beating Bolles 1-0.
